The Extra Ordinary Give Is Back!

Dear Friends of the Literacy Council,
On November 22, you can be part of the largest day of giving in Lancaster County. The Lancaster County Community Foundation will host the second annual Extra Ordinary Give. Last year, this single day of giving raised $1.7 million dollars. Your donation will go further because The Lancaster County Community Foundation will enhance your contribution with a $250,000 stretch pool. All participating organizations will receive a percentage of the stretch pool based on the percent of total donations received on November 22.
Please consider investing your donation in educating a motivated adult learner.
13% of Lancaster County adults do not have the basic skills they need to read a book, complete a job application or help their children with school work. The good news is that basic skills can be learned. Last year, more than 1,000 adults improved their skills at The Literacy Council.
Improving basic academic skills leads to even bigger changes. Last year,
148 students got jobs
12 students became US Citizens
36 students transitioned to college
49 students got GED's
38 students completed a work readiness program.
When adults have skills, they are able to get jobs, get training, support their children's educational development and contribute to our community.
On November 22, please support The Literacy Council. Watch this short video to learn more about the Extra Give!
